The reason we love chocolate!

The regular 'Chocolate' we eat and love so much contains "uppers" like caffeine, sugars, fats and a natural ingredient phenylthalymine, which make the heart rate pound a little harder, increase our breathing rate and give us a feeling of alertness. The effect is mild enough to produce a pleasant elated feeling which is often equated to the feeling of being in love.

And then there's Cacao - 100% pure chocolate

Chocolate however is mainly made from the Cacao bean. In order for us to enjoy its full benefits and flavour without the additives mentioned above we choose 100% cacao. The beans undergo a gentle fermentation and sprouting process to leave us with the pure chocolate.

Cacao's affects the emotional level - relieving stress and depression.

Evidence from clinical trials clearly showed that cacao helps to relieve emotional stress. The 'Bliss Chemicals' found in Cacao, dopamine and the endorphin phenylethylamine, naturally reduce symptoms of premenstrual syndrome and depression. It also contains the essential amino acid tryptophan, which increases production of serotonin, an important brain chemical that helps us remain positive and happy.  These neurotransmitters also remain in the bloodstream longer after ingesting cacao creating a natural antidepressant benefit, while the theobromine and caffeine content boosts energy levels and relieves fatigue. Cacao also increases the blood flow to the brain, creating more mental agility, awareness and focus.

Cacao's effects on the physical level - brain, heart and body detox.

As well as powerful antioxidants, cacao also contains flavonoids along with a significant amount of chromium, which balances blood sugar levels and helps the body’s cells resist damage by free radicals caused by a toxic environment. Likewise, the flavanols have a positive effect on vascular health, lowers blood pressure, improves blood flow to the brain and heart and helps the clotting process of blood.

Cacao's affects on the Spiritual a spiritual level - The Food of the Gods

Cacao is a plant medicine used by the Mesoamerican and South American cultures, such as the Mayans, Aztecs and Spanish conquistadors. Its Greek name Theobroma Cacao literally means ‘Food of the Gods, Thea (god), Broma (food), with the Maya word Ka’kau.

Cacao works through the heart, opening the heart chakra and connecting us to the deepest form of love we can experience as human beings. It heals and nurtures the soul, connects us to our God/Divine/Higher Self and Spiritual Wisdom. It connects the left and right brain in a powerful way, balancing the male and female energies within us.  In every way in life it can show us the way forward if we are stuck or afraid of making the necessary life changes in order to move on. It also enables us to access stuck emotions, conditioning, patterns of behaviour and addictions that are buried deep in the unconscious.

In our relationships it deepens our love and enables us to find forgiveness, compassion and better understanding and communication.

In our work, it helps us to become more creative and find greater joy in all we do, helping to serve others rather than work for our own financial gain. Drink cacao before yoga, meditation, or any other spiritual work or healing.

“Something amazing happens when we surrender and just love. We melt into another world, a realm of power already within us. The world changes when we change. The world softens when we soften. The world loves us when we choose to love the world.”

— A Return to Love - Marianne Williamson
